Approximately 35 miles north of London lies Baldock.  A small historic market town in Hertfordshire.  Towns nearby to Baldock  include Hitchin and Letchworth.

The towns secondary  school which is academy status was given its name Knights Templar, which was founded by Baldock.

Due to its location, Baldock town was the major staging post between the North and London.  Today many of the old coaching inns are still in operation as hotels and public houses.

The towns railway line operates between Cambridge and London Kings Cross with frequent services.

Baldock also hosts several events through out the year.  One of them being the Baldock Festival, which takes place on the 1st weekend of May.  Throughout the town and the local area, this festival hosts numerous events including,  barn dances, music events which have local bands, brewery tours, cricket matches.  In the high street of the 2nd and final weekend of May, the festival concludes with a Historic Street Fair, to which many of the stall holders illustrate what life was like at that time and dress in clothing appropriate to that era.
Alongside the 1st weekend, you can taste and sample continental lagers, national and local real ales and real ciders in the Baldock Beer Festival.   Local bands play as well as entertainment laid on for the children.

Around the 2nd, 3rd and 4th October, a yearly fair comes to Baldock.  This dates back to 1199 when King John granted the rights of holding the fair to the Templars.

A festival known as the Balstock is a three day event which features more than 100 bands performing in a number of venues across the town.  It is considered Herfordshire's free biggest music festival, to which all proceeds given are nominated to a charity.
